Hanumanasana~Monkey Pose

If you want a pose that is going to really take some patience to work into, this is the one to practice.  I have been working on Hanumanasana or Monkey Pose for about a year and it is one that I am deeply grateful for.  There is no forcing anything in this asana (pose).  It assesses where your current physical abilities are at, and then with patience and perseverance, you can deepen into this posture over time.  It provides a wonderful stretch for your hip flexors and your hamstrings.  When first practicing this pose, it is definitely useful to use yoga props, such as blocks, to place on either sides of your body to rest your hands on until your flexibility deepens.  Click here for a great article on the “how-to’s” of this posture.
